Plane of Shadow Empty
PostSubject: Re: Plane of Shadow   Plane of Shadow Icon_minitimeTue Dec 28, 2010 6:08 am

((Currently in the Plane of Shadow are Aerynn and Ryu. Okay, so basically, the Plane of Shadow is like the Material Plane, with only three major differences: 1) The entire plane is bleached of color; black, white, and many shades of grey are the only colors visible here, and the sky is just a vault of black with no sun, moon, or stars. Outsiders keep their color when they arrive. 2) Landmarks and buildings that exist on the Material Plane exist differently on the Plane of Shadow, and their conditions/locations are shifting every so often. And 3) Shades, shadow creatures, liches, nightshades, wraiths, and spectres are more abundant here.))

Both Aerynn and Ryu appeared in a bleak version of the Tavern. The inside was in shambles, and the door was missing.

((Ok, two quick questions.

1) Does Aerynn still have Ryu in a chokehold?

2) Do all of the physical objects from the tavern have a mirror in the Plane, or just most?))

((1. Yes, Aerynn still has Ryu in a chokehold, though it's weakened a bit.

2. Only some of the physical objects in the Plane of Shadow are mirror images to the Material Plane. The Plane of Shadow is very manipulative in nature and will shift items into different styles, move them to different locations, or just plain wreck them. Right now, the tavern is a wreck...the inside, at least. The exterior is very much the same, except the door is gone.))

((Ok, better question: does Ryu's stave have an "evil twin" here? Razz

Honestly... I can't do much for Ryu yet, except write that he's waiting for Aerynn to bleed to death... parts of the flesh on her back should literally have been blasted away.))

((OOo... blood, carnage, yay! rotfl))

((Nope, Ryu's stave has no "evil twin" here.))

((Darn. Razz))

Ryu struggled with Aerynn's hold of him, unable to break it despite the fact that it was weakening. It was only a mater of time, he knew, before she bled to death from his wounds.

He placed both his hands firmly over either of her wrists, and heated them vicously for a moment.

He placed both his hands firmly over either of her wrists, and heated them vicously for a moment.

Aerynn yelped in pain, but she knew what would happen next. The searing pain was well worth it.

"Heh...you fell for it," she said weakly. Almost immediately after she had said that, a large burst of dark matter followed, forcefully separating her from Ryu's grasp. She flew back ten feet, sustaining many cuts and a few gashes all over her body. Pain of an unheard of magnitude vibrated all over her body as she collapsed to the floor, close to becoming unconscious.

Ryu was thrown forward, and rolled into a bruised heap in the rubble at one end of the tavern. "What have you DONE?" he asked, pain creeping into the edges of his voice. "Gavarkth!" he said, holding his bleeding hands to his side. "Shervenst! Fakaneir!"

Aerynn heard those words and struggled to sit herself up, despite the amount of blood she had lost and the amount of pain she was going through.

"What...happened now," she spoke, her voice a bit broken, "is...nothing...compared to...what you're...about to experience next. The...ability I had...played upon you...is called...the Soul Cage. Soon...you will be bleached dry of color...and all of your pain will cease. You will neither...live nor die. You will exist...only as a shadow...a native to this plane...for all eternity. It's over...you've lost."

((LOL, Ryu is talented at cursing in several tongues, huh? XD))

((Ryu is a villain! He may curse in as many languages as he pleases!

Ryu: I'm cool like that.))

"Lost?" Ryu repeated. "No, you are mistaken." He stood and regained his composure, slowly making his way across the room to where she lay. "You see, you will die here unless you have my help. I don't think you want that to happen. For that reason, I am far from defeated. Besides..." he dropped down to his left knee in front of her, taking a glance around him. "I've escaped worse."

"Really? You're confident...or...just vain," Aerynn stifled. "You haven't even realized...that your body is starting to lose its color. And what's more...you can't touch me." She then raised her left arm, which had small cuts all over it and a noticeably deep gash ((plus the grey marks where Ryu singed her wrists)) with straining difficulty. She then thrust her arm right at him. It went right through him. She then managed a very wicked grin. 'Perfect,' she thought. 'Now his spells should be diminishing slowly.'

((Wait, what!? When/if Ryu becomes a shadow do the things that he did in the maretial plane stop working?... But some spells have a permanecy affect, Q... We need you, LOL.))

((The curses Ryu put on Undevar are, for all intensive purposes, physical objects. Even if Ryu fades, they will not, and continue to act in the fashion they were when he gave them their last command. The portion allowing him to interface with the curses would fade with him, though. Ryu should fade far slower than a normal person would, though, since his aura is amplified and was powerful to begin with, and that's what represents his natural resistance.))

Ryu sighed. "It is unfortunate that your spell acts so quickly... a circumstance that will lead to your death, since you won't allow me to aid you. But as for your simple spell... you don't know what you are dealing with. The dragons use this sort of dimension whenever they change forms, some of them so naturally that they don't even realize it anymore." He stood back up, reaching into one of the inner pockets of his coats. From within he removed a dark gray chain, looped around itself with a simple teardrop-shaped charm at one end. "If there is one thing I know how to control, it's dragons." He gave a wan smile at the object, running his fingertips along its length for a moment in thought. Then he dropped it to the floor, and ground the charm hanging from it beneath his heel.

((Damn, that's what I figured.))

Aerynn kept grinning wickedly. "My spell...isn't as simple as you think. By...casting this ability...I've exposed some...but not all...of your soul. Now...it acts as a beacon for...nightshades and wraiths. I can't harm or touch you...but they can."

As soon as she said that, a horrid shriek filled the air. Outside the doorway was a black, shadowy figure resembling little more than a cloak endlessly flowing and billowing. The only shapes that were definite were its hands and head. The hands were black and their three fingers bore sickle-shaped claws. The head was underneath the billowing cloak, ghostly white eyes peering out of it, and the mouth and endless black hole. Five of the same creatures slowly entered one by one.

"You might want to run...wraiths have an...especially big appetite...for souls," she said. "I might as well...go myself. Goodbye." She then used the last of her energy to dissapear from the Plane of Shadow.

Ryu let out a short laugh as she disappeared. "Fortunately, I know souls as well. I happen to have none." He sat down cross legged in the center of the room, watching the shapes about him without passion. "You have seconds, if that. Enjoy them."

The wraiths let out another horrifying shriek.

"Don't be a fool," one of them hissed slowly like a snake. "You DO have a soul. I can smell...I can feel it. You just deny that you have one."

"All living things have souls," another spat. "If you didn't, you would be just a mindless, lifeless being. And even though you are a shadow now, you are still full of life, and your mind...is very much thinking."

"We wil be the judges as to whether you have a soul," a third added. "Even if it means ripping the flesh off of your bones."

Then, without further delay, all five wraiths began to slowly burn through Ryu's aura ((in their sense, "burning" is more like "eating right through it". And although they are shadow creatures, they take a long time to burn through auras, though nightshades can burn through this type of aura almost instantly)).
