I always though Velne was a bit more of an "above average" type of character for at least half of his stats.

I'll take those then, though these are just base stats that will be altered once I add in all his levels (which may take a couple of weeks because I won't be able to consult my books until I get home). And I have half a Character sheet up if you want to roll up a character or something (will be adding the rest later).

I've also been playing with various frost elf stats based on a D&D Wiki I found.

How is:
[*]-2 Cons, +2 Dex

[*]+4 on fortitude throws against Cold attacks and cold weather (or whatever the correct stat is)

[*]Standard +2 to spot, listen, and search

[*]Taking out the immunity to sleeping spells or effects, but keeping the resistance to enchantments

[*]Making Elven the starting language and having Common as a bonus language.

[*]Standard low light vision.

[*]Darkvision out to 30 feet.

[*]Weapon proficiency in short sword, short bow (and compound shortbow), Longbow (compound also), dirk, and hunting knife. (Maybe a short spear of some sort?)

[*]Favored Class: Scout.

Oh, and one question, how many skill points & ability points do you get to play with per level? Do you have to roll, or do you automatically add on a number equal to your Hit die (for the class you're taking)?

You get skill points based on your class. Under the class statistics, it will say something like, "8 + Int modifier per level times 4 at 1st level." That means you add your INT modifier (the little number that's in the chart) to the number 8 to decide how many skill points you get per level, after you multiply that number by 4 in the first level. You do this after you get your racial modifiers, but the starting skill points don't change when you add attribute points at later levels.

Under that it will list what skills your class is proficient at. While you can take any skill, the proficient ones only cost 1 skill point to go up a rank while "cross-class" skills cost two. You can take skills from any class you've multi-classed in, though the other multi-classing rules get more tricky.

So how many attribute points do you get to allocate per level? Is it equal to the hit die for the class you're taking, do you need to roll, or is there simply a set number?
